FACTS ON ASPHALT |
|
Our "State-of-the-Art" CMI® PRD-400 Asphalt Plant is installed with a Roto-Aire® bag-house for dust particle removal. This new system is unequalled in Eastern Washington. In fact, the closest plant of this type is in California where air pollution concerns are at their highest. The plant isn't the only thing unique to this area! Typically, a hot mix plant will load trucks out in the open environment. This allows significant fumes and odors to be released into the air. Many states are in process of changing the way this has been handled, such as southern California. At Spokane Rock Products, we load our hot mix asphalt into trucks while they are contained in a closed building! This 160 foot long "load-out" building has a scale mounted inside for weighing the trucks as they are loaded. Once inside, the high-speed doors close quickly behind the moving truck as it is loaded with hot mix asphalt. The trucks can also receive their tickets while exiting the building. Additionally, Spokane Rock Products has engineered and installed an activated carbon filter system for the load-out building and a separate unit for the hot asphalt storage silos and hot oil tank. Fumes that typically "float" out into the air from the truck loading process are drawn into the activated carbon filter system to remove as much of the odiferous particles as possible to reduce plant site odors. No other asphalt plant in the Northwest goes to these extremes either! But Spokane Rock Products is committed to our customers, and our Neighbors! The Spokane Metropolitan Area is like many others: It has roads that need to be constantly repaved or new roads to carry additional traffic. As the need for asphalt mix increases, so does the opportunity for pollution. Spokane Rock Products again, is committed to it's neighbors as well as our customers! The Plant is located at 4418 E. 8th Avenue just east of the intersection of Havana. We are there to serve the paving industry with quality products from "State-of-the-Art" equipment, and people concerned about service and the community! Come by and take a look! |
